Receipt matching

A filing cabinet isn't reconciliation

Most "receipt software" solves storage: you forward receipts, it files them neatly. The audit-day question is different — does every transaction have its document, and do the books tie out? That's matching, and it's the job Reconcily was built for.

The structural difference

Capture tools file. The agent reconciles.

Receipt-capture tools Reconcily
How receipts get in You forward, snap, or email each receipt as it happens — going forward only. The agent retroactively hunts a whole year out of the places receipts already live — uploads and scans today; inbox and cloud-drive connectors rolling out through early access.
What happens to them Stored and coded into a tidy filing cabinet, attached to the ledger. Matched to the actual bank/card transaction — date, amount, vendor, reference IDs — with unmatched charges flagged, not ignored.
What you end with Organized documents. Reconciled books: a per-account bank tie-out, a computed audit-readiness verdict, and a workpaper where every line traces to its document.

Questions

Receipt-matching FAQ

Is Reconcily a replacement for Dext or Hubdoc?
Different job. Capture tools are excellent filing cabinets for receipts you remember to forward. Reconcily is a reconciliation agent: it finds the documents you didn't forward (retroactively, in your email), matches each to a transaction, and proves the books tie out. You can run both — and since the agent also ingests forwarded and uploaded documents, it is built to cover the capture too.
Does it work with QuickBooks or Xero?
Alongside, yes — your ledger stays the system of record. Reconcily exports reconciled results as Excel/CSV that your ledger, CPA, or tax software consumes. It doesn't try to be your general ledger.
What does "matching" mean, precisely?
Each document is paired to its bank/card transaction on exact-decimal amount (±$0.01), date, vendor, and reference IDs — with conservative duplicate detection and transfer pairing so nothing double-counts. Uncertain matches go to review instead of being guessed.
Who is it for?
Accounting firms reconciling every client in one place, businesses closing the month across all their accounts, and individuals who need a year of books — from free to done-for-you.
