An agent built to be checked, not believed

Anyone can claim AI reads receipts. Reconcily is engineered for the harder standard — books that hold up when a CPA or an IRS examiner starts asking questions. Here's the machinery behind that.

What makes it trustworthy

Six design choices that make the books defensible

Two independent reads, cross-checked

Every document is read twice — enterprise OCR builds a grounded text layer (where each value sits on the page, with per-token confidence), and a vision-language model extracts the fields. The two must agree before a number is trusted.

Flag, don't guess

A document is auto-accepted only when the reads agree, the arithmetic reconciles, and nothing risky is present. Anything uncertain routes to a review queue with the reason stated — errors stay visible, never buried in your books.

Money that reconciles to the cent

Amounts are handled as exact decimals — never floating point. Subtotal + tax − discount must reconcile to the total within $0.01, and document-to-transaction matching anchors on the same tolerance.

Conservative duplicates & transfers

Exact duplicates are caught by content fingerprint; near-duplicates merge only when vendor, total, and date corroborate; transfers between your own accounts pair only when the match is unambiguous. Your confirmations stick across re-runs.

Every line traces to its document

Each figure in the books points back to the source document — and the spot on the page — it came from. That two-sided trail is what makes the output audit-defensible rather than just tidy.

A computed readiness verdict

The export's summary sheet states "Audit readiness: READY" — or lists exactly what blocks it, with the documented percentage and the dollar exposure of anything missing. Calculated from the books, not asserted.

Questions

Product FAQ

What sources can it read?
Email inboxes, scanned or photographed documents (PDF, HEIC, JPG, PNG — password-protected PDFs included), cloud drives, and bank/card feeds (CSV, OFX). Connectors are rolling out through early access.
What do I get out?
The audit pack: a reconciled Excel/CSV workbook (~30 data columns per document), the computed readiness summary, a per-account bank tie-out, a reconciliation file that joins documents to transactions, and a Schedule C mapping. Full contents →
Does it replace QuickBooks or Xero?
No — your ledger stays the system of record. Reconcily does the work the ledger doesn't: the retroactive document hunt, doc-to-transaction reconciliation, and audit workpapers, exported as files your ledger, CPA, or tax software can consume.
How accurate is it?
We benchmark against a hand-labeled golden set of real audit documents on every change, and the system is built so the errors that remain are flagged, not hidden. The full story: How accurate is Reconcily?
